After graduating from the University of Hull with a degree in Commercial Law I completed the Legal Practise Course at Northumbria University. I then went on to work as a Contracts Specialist in one of the country’s largest banks before joining SMD in 2012 as a Commercial Officer.
In this role, I provide contractual and commercial support to all areas of SMD, with the primary responsibility to support new equipment sales. This includes the commercial review, evaluation and submission of Invitations to Tender, the drafting of Letters of Intent, negotiation of contracts and frame agreements, sign off of contract variations and liaising with SMD senior management to identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the life of our equipment supply contracts.
The main benefit of working at SMD is the variety of work. I could be drafting a collaboration agreement for a cutting edge innovation project one moment and flying to China for a contract negotiation the next. Within SMD the friendly, family atmosphere is evident in the attitudes of its employees and its senior management alike, this is a company who looks after their employees and where everyone reciprocates by treating each other with respect and honesty. It is an exciting time to be working at SMD as we continue our expansion into China, opening up new markets and opportunities.
