SMD have a purpose built training facility which is aimed at building and enhancing the skills required for operation and maintenance of SMD subsea vehicle systems. The facility comprises a large classroom with state of the art training aids and an SMD developed Dri-ROV Simulator. The latter simulates as closely as possible the operation of our full range of ROVs and also the environment of the control van. The training is executed by SMD’s full time ROV Training Manager who is also an experienced ROV pilot. Please contact us for details of available courses.

- Interactive whiteboard with facility for captured data to be retained by trainees
- Plasma screen for display of actual ROV video footage and other training material
- Separate area for DriROV simulator with audience viewing facility
- QNX PC network for training of basic control system maintenance skills
- Major equipment sub-assemblies for maintenance training including pod, thrusters, intelligent valve pack etc.
