In 2009 Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD) Limited acquired Hallin Robotics from Hallin Marine Subsea International Plc. Now trading as the SMD Nuclear Business Stream we specialise in producing equipment that enables the removal of the manual operator from hazardous radiological environments found in civil nuclear power plants.

During its relatively short existence, SMD Nuclear has successfully completed a variety of contracts to the nuclear industry ranging from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) through to the design & manufacture of special purpose machines and has performed on-site operations using SQEP operators.

Key to the success of any nuclear project is the preparation and delivery of supporting documentation including but not limited to: plant modification proposals; risk assessments; safety case development; method statements; lifetime quality records and ‘CE’ marking.
