The SMD Curvetech DVECS (Distributed Vehicle Control System) is a powerful reliable control package designed for controlling REMOTE robotic subsea systems. DVECS excels when controlling hydraulic devices, electrical transducers, instrumentation or cameras such as those found on complex WROVs, Ploughs and Trenchers. DVECS boasts a full suite of user programmable functions in addition to realtime diagnostic monitoring. The package can be supplied tailored to suit any customer application, including new build or upgrade of ROV systems.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
The DVECS control software is designed to run on QNX equipped industrial PC’s which guard against obsolescence and ensure reliable high speed operation. Multiple PC’s can be connected together to control various areas of a system such as communication, graphical displays and diagnostics. Connection to the subsea vehicle is via a high speed data link. The compact subsea control pod acts as a network hub directing data signals to various satellite units such as DVECS compliant Curvetech valve packs and lighting controllers. All these devices communicate with the control pod via MODBUS data strings. As each of the satellite units communicate independently with the main surface control software, there is no need for a subsea processor which further simplifies the system, increasing reliability.
