ROV operations up to 6000m

A versatile ROV

Multiple applications

Quasar is a medium size work class ROV offering high-current performance and good tooling/instrument carrying capability.

This ROV is stable even in strong currents, and so excels as a survey and oceanographic platform. It is also equally capable of salvage and construction operations using its isolated hydraulic system which can run high power tools.

Our intuitive DVECSII control system can be mastered quickly and intuitively helping reduce operational risk, and we offer training courses should your pilots need one.

Access to the vehicle's quick release components is fast and easy decreasing maintenance time and increasing availability. The Quasar can be supplied as a complete package with SMD’s Compact or Extended TMS and 8te or 12te LARS.

High performance in demanding conditions

The Quasar can undertake survey operations, demanding construction or salvage work whilst keeping a reasonably compact form.

Available in various depths up to 6000m, Quasar is interchangeable with the Quantum ROV and associated TMS to ease fleet management. It can be equipped with SMD’s DVECSII automated dynamic positioning system which includes unique features such as sonar lock and structure orbit.

The vehicle can connect with HD cameras and serial and ethernet instruments quickly and efficiently. Full pilot and co-pilot graphical feedback is provided via advanced SCADA displays. Other features include comprehensive real time diagnostics, data logging and remote connectivity.

Quasar’s 150hp central HPU supplies two independent hydraulic circuits. The primary circuit provides power to the thrusters (which are a step up in size from our smaller Atom ROV), whilst the second is an isolated circuit capable of running all but the most specialist high power tool skids.

The Quasar provides a large amount of free space in the porch and port side of the vehicle to accommodate tools without the need for a separate skid. All our vehicles are fitted with proven and reliable Curvetech® components mounted on slide-out runners and twist/release mechanisms for fast change out and ease of maintenance.
